my vacation beauty essentials

April 24, 2017

I brought a lot of makeup with me on this Mexico trip because I was doing my best friend’s makeup for her wedding. With all the options I had with me, these are the items I used the most during my five day stay.

Marc Jacobs’ Fineliner Ultra Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner (in Blacquer)
I picked up this liner at Sephora after the girls tried the product on my aunt. I’ve been a big fan of gel liners (Bobbi Brown in particular) and was interested in this pencil version. After the kids were born, I didn’t have time to bother with a brush and a liner pot so I became a loyal user of Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner. Pencil form, convenient and easy to use.

But in Mexico I continued reaching for my new Marc Jacobs’ pencil. The line is veryyy fine and you will have to build if you want it thicker. But for Mexico, a slight line to open my eyes was all I needed. The tip is so tiny, its perfect for tight lining which also gave me a more natural look suitable for vacation. On me, it stood up to a full day of Mexican humidity and beach shenanigans. I didn’t have to touch it up and could go straight to dinner. I also liked the flexibility of a gel pencil, quickly smudge before it sets to smoke out your lash line which isn’t feasible with a liquid liner. This product has quickly become a favourite and I will be repurchasing!

Laura Mercer’s Tinted Moisturizer (in Nude)
I’ve used this product for years and has been a vacation staple for me. It’s very light, almost a sheer coverage. It evens out my tone without being heavy. I use this after I apply my SPF.

Nars Creamy Concealer (in Custard)
As my skin has aged, I’ve added a concealer to my vacation arsenal. This concealer has always been a makeup bag favorite, its covers up pigmentation spots and reduces the look of under eye bags. If it’s a beach day, I normally would skip this step all together. But concealer is good for dinners or if you feel the need to look a little more flawless.

Neutrogena Make Up Removing Wipes

I had eyelash extensions for this trip and wasn’t able to use my regular oil based makeup remover. These wipes are convenient, quick to use, and has always been effective in removing hard stuck on eye makeup. It was my first time using the night time calming version (purple packaging) but I actually prefer the regular non scented one (blue packaging).

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 17 Rose Dahlia

I got this lipstick as a Christmas present and finally got a chance to use it! The bright coraly pink colour and creamy moisturizing texture screams resort vacation!

My vacation essentials tend to change with every trip depending where I’m traveling to and what I plan on doing. But for this Mexican getaway all these products were perfect for me! What are your travel beauty essentials?
